Meet the Grant Writer Behind Connections
I’m Kalia Rork, founder of Connections Grant Writing, a boutique grant writing business built on decades of experience in persuasive communication, nonprofit leadership, and community advocacy. After a long and successful career in real estate—where I learned how to listen deeply, write powerfully, and navigate complex systems—I transitioned into grant writing to support the causes I care about most.
I’ve served on multiple nonprofit boards and commissions, including seven years as treasurer, and I have over two decades of experience in nonprofit accounting. In addition, I bring a professional background in writing and editing, having worked under tight deadlines for publishers and nonprofits to craft clear, compelling, and accurate content. I know the challenges of managing limited resources while trying to expand impact, and I use that knowledge to write grants that are not only persuasive but also grounded in financial reality.
What sets me apart is the level of personal attention and care I bring to every client. I don’t take on dozens of accounts at once—I intentionally work with a small number of organizations so I can give each one the time and focus it deserves. I listen carefully, tailor each proposal to your voice and mission, and stay with you through the entire process—from strategy to submission and beyond. Whether you’re applying for your first grant or managing a complex funding portfolio, you’ll have a trusted partner who truly believes in your work and treats your mission like it’s my own.
