Process

How We’ll Work Together
Every nonprofit is different—so every grant project I take on is tailored to fit your needs, goals, and capacity. My process is clear and collaborative, designed to make grant seeking less stressful, more successful, and far less time-consuming for you and your team.

Step 1: Initial Meeting

We start with a free 30–60 minute consultation to get to know each other and discuss your mission, vision, and goals. We’ll talk about your funding history, grant readiness, and the outcomes you hope to achieve.

Step 2: Program Focus

Together, we’ll determine which programs or projects are the best fit for grant funding at this time—balancing what’s most compelling to funders with what’s most practical for your organization right now.

Step 3: Grant Research

I research funding opportunities from private foundations, corporations, and local, state, and federal agencies, using both subscription databases and other trusted sources. My goal is to find the best matches for your mission—opportunities where your proposal will be a strong contender.

Step 4: Understanding the Funder

I carefully review each funder’s guidelines, requirements, and funding history to ensure your proposal will meet their expectations. I also pay attention to subtler elements—such as tone, priorities, and even key language used in their materials—so your application speaks directly to what matters most to them.

Step 5: Gathering your Materials

I’ll send you a clear, organized list of what’s needed—budgets, board member bios, financial statements, and any other required materials—so you know exactly what to provide and when.

Step 6: Crafting the Proposal

I develop a compelling proposal or letter of inquiry that reflects your unique voice and mission. You’ll receive a draft for review, and we’ll refine it together until it’s exactly right.

Step 7: Submission

Once you’ve approved the final draft, I coordinate the submission process according to the funder’s specifications—making sure your proposal arrives polished, complete, and on deadline.

Step 8: Calendars & Tracking

I provide you with a grant calendar that tracks upcoming deadlines, renewal opportunities, and important submission dates, so you’re always prepared for what’s next.

Step 9: Post-Award Stewardship

If your grant is awarded, I can handle required reporting and help you maintain strong relationships with funders through timely thank-you letters, sharing impact updates, and keeping them informed about your successes.

A thoughtful process saves time, reduces stress, and brings in the support that fuels your impact.
